Many significant functions in a business such as maintaining flow of information within the company and marketing the products of the company require printing service. Offset printing is the most commonly used printing technique and learning about it is therefore helpful and essential.
The users and the printers like offset printing due to its cost effectiveness for the production of large number of prints. Hence for bulk orders any good printing company would advise you to go for offset printing.
Offset printing employs oil based ink, which does not blend with water. The offset printing gets its name from the fact that the designs are transferred indirectly from the plates to the paper by use of rubber blankets as the agents.
The process begins by preparing the designs. Film negatives were used in the past for making images and then reproducing them to aluminum based printing plates. But, a modern printing company would now develop the plates directly by using an image setting system. The next step is to attach the plate on to a cylinder in the right manner. Thereafter water, and then ink, is spread on the image plates. While the ink gets fixed to the image, the water gets attached to that part of the plate which has no image so that the ink does not spill beyond the image.
The image is then taken from the plates to the rubber blanket rolled on another cylinder, so that it is reversed. The image is then printed with its correct side looking up by cutting sheets of papers into correct size and placing them on a third cylinder.
Last steps of the printing job involve things such as stapling, pasting or arranging the printed sheets in line with the instructions of the client, and any printing company should easily manage these.
